Roadmap
Release life cycle
Starting with version 3.5, OpenSSL has adopted the following changes to the Release Strategy:
- LTS Releases:
- Supported for at least five years
- with a new LTS version designated at least every two years.
- Non-LTS Releases:
- Supported for a minimum of 13 months (from 3.5 onwards).
Release plan
Starting with 5.0 in October 2027, OpenSSL will have a major release every other year. The diagram below shows planned releases of the OpenSSL Library with their respective release dates.
Note: Release dates are subject to change.
The table below outlines the planned major and minor releases, including their respective release dates and end-of-support dates for each version.
